Single-family house located in a newly created urbanization, reasonably far from the historic center of the town. The houses do not respond to a particular style and form a nondescript and diverse set in terms of types, materials and colors. On the other hand, the plot is characterized by a steep slope and spectacular views coinciding with the best orientations.
With these premises, in order to optimize the aforementioned benefits of the plot and effectively accommodate the domestic program, a terraced house is proposed on several levels. Access is gained by descending slightly through the semi-basement floor, where, in addition to the entrance hall, the garage, the storeroom and the ‘txoko’ are located. A continuous staircase with a single flight per floor connects the three levels. Mystery is preserved by ascending to the main floor with one’s back to the views, so that the contemplation of the only open space that houses the common areas, in an elevated position and in total continuity with the terraced garden and the graceful horizon, is surprising. The approach is maintained on the upper floor, reserved for the bedrooms.
The intention of terracing the complicated topography of the plot and the necessary agreement with the neighboring houses forces a considerable development of retaining walls and urbanization. In order to offer a clear, contained and, at the same time, forceful image, it was decided to build the whole as an extension of the walls. The house is thus strongly rooted in the terrain, revealing the importance of the original topography in the conception of the project. This abstract language gives rise to a built object characterized by the mere stacking of cantilevered strata, the openings being hidden under the shadow of the eaves. The planters provide the thickness and density sought at the different levels and integrate the large-edged beams that effectively bridge large spans and thus avoid inopportune intermediate supports. They also provide the possibility of introducing abundant vegetation, emphasizing the fusion of house and ground. The swimming pool builds the lowest level, close to the street, framing the horizon and protecting privacy.
The materialization of these intentions occurs through the grooved mortar block. The manifestation of the exposed concrete slabs in the overhangs also allows them to be resolved with an easy, rough or rudimentary construction, only in appearance. The concealment of their supports introduces subtle contradictions that help to lighten the whole.

Vivienda unifamiliar situada en una urbanización de nueva creación, razonablemente alejada del centro histórico de la villa. Las casas no responden a un estilo determinado y configuran un conjunto anodino y diverso en cuanto a tipos, materiales y colores. Por otro lado, la parcela se caracteriza por una fuerte pendiente y vistas espectaculares coincidiendo con las mejores orientaciones.
Con estas premisas, con el objeto de optimizar las referidas bondades del solar y alojar eficazmente el programa doméstico, se plantea una vivienda en varios niveles aterrazados. Se accede descendiendo ligeramente a través de la planta semisótano, donde se ubican, además del vestíbulo, el garaje, el almacén y el ‘txoko’. Una escalera continua de un único tramo por planta comunica los tres niveles. Se preserva el misterio mediante la ascensión a la planta noble de espaldas a las vistas, de modo que la contemplación del único espacio diáfano que alberga las zonas comunes, en posición elevada y en continuidad total con el jardín aterrazado y el agraciado horizonte, resulta sorprendente. El planteamiento se mantiene en la planta elevada, reservada a los dormitorios.
La intención de aterrazar la complicada topografía de la parcela y el necesario acuerdo con las casas vecinas obliga a un desarrollo considerable de muros de contención y urbanización. Con el objeto de ofrecer una imagen clara, contenida y, a su vez, contundente, se decide construir la totalidad como prolongación de los muros. La casa queda, así, fuertemente enraizada en el terreno, revelando la importancia de la topografía original en la concepción del proyecto. Este lenguaje abstracto da lugar a un objeto construido caracterizado por el mero apilamiento de estratos volados, quedando los huecos rasgados ocultos bajo la sombra de los aleros. Las jardineras proporcionan el espesor y la densidad buscadas en los diferentes niveles e integran las vigas de gran canto que permiten salvar eficazmente grandes luces y evitar, así, inoportunos apoyos intermedios. Proporcionan, además, la posibilidad de introducir abundante vegetación, enfatizando la fusión de casa y suelo. La piscina construye el nivel más bajo y próximo a la calle, enmarcando el horizonte y protegiendo la privacidad.
La materialización de estas intenciones se produce mediante el bloque de mortero ranurado. La manifestación de las losas de hormigón visto en los vuelos permite resolverlos igualmente con una construcción fácil, tosca o rudimentaria, solo en apariencia. La ocultación de sus apoyos introduce sutiles contradicciones que ayudan a aligerar el conjunto.
